These sessions observe a warm-up, a modified series of sun salutations, and then work into postures for strengthening and opening the back,
stabilizing the shoulders, opening and stabilizing the hips.
We make observations of breath, body, and mind throughout. The sequencing is progressive and non-competitive. We address needs as they arise and explore a variety of postures, mudras, bandhas, and breath. Every session moves toward a thematic unity. We never script a session. We aim for zero injury.
We focus on guided attention, on breath delivery, on body awareness, on associated qualities of mind and emotion. The vinyasa allows
for newcomers as well as experienced practitioners. Sessions close with a random brief passage of a yogic text read aloud. We sit for an energizing breath practice.
If you can walk for 75 minutes without stopping and you have no specific injuries or serious conditions, then you could be confident of starting.
If you have an energetic practice already, we invite you to experience a focus on nyasa and pranavidya.
Guided by the niyamas of tapas (discipline) and santosha (satisfaction) we aim for an experience of heightened presence and clarity (sattwa).
Don't let the sanskrit terms intimidate you. No knowledge of sanskrit necessary for practice at our studio.

HELPFUL INFO:
*We are located upstairs. Enter the building between Arty Wear and Oreck Vacuums, or in the back between Citrus Bistro and Highland Park Cleaners. Go up the stairs, or take the extremely slow elevator. We are at the end of the hall, to the left of the stairs.
*We do not have changing facilities or a restroom inside the studio, but there are restrooms on the second floor available for your use.
*We ask that our clients participate in class in bare feet, and that no shoes are worn past the entryway of the studio. There are shoe racks, cubby holes, and coat pegs inside the front door for your belongings.
*Please turn off your cell phone before entering class.
*Our late policy is that we prefer to begin on time. we recognize, however, that occasionally it's not possible to arrive before class starts.
do not fret! do not go backwards! if you are close, slip in quietly, observe a brief personal warm-up, and join the practice.
*You may want to bring a bottle of water to class. There is a water fountain on the second floor available for your use.
*Wear comfortable, non-binding clothing. You may choose to wear form-fitting clothing, rather than loose, bulky clothing, as excessive or loose fabric may limit your ability to do some of the postures. But the important thing is to wear what you are comfortable in. You will find what works for you as you develop your practice.
*If you did not complete a registration form in advance, please arrive a couple of minutes before your first class to complete one.
